Biography

A dedicated educator and creator, Tan has taught at LaSalle College of the Arts and Singapore Polytechnic, inspiring a new generation of artists. In 1992, she helped establish Singapore’s first public printmaking studio, and a year later, organised the nation’s inaugural glass exhibition — milestones that shaped the local art landscape.

Her works have been showcased widely, from the Singapore Art Museum to the Hsin Zhu Glass Museum in Taiwan, and her public commissions, including the GlassMorphosis project and the glass wall feature at Ng Teng Fong General Hospital, continue to reflect her belief that art should live, breathe, and connect with people.

Through her mastery of glass and printmaking, Tan Sock Fong transforms light into story — a poetic reminder that even the most fragile materials can hold immense strength and meaning.
